Compositors, Mid to Senior Level

Melbourne
Luma Melbourne is hiring Mid to Senior Compositors to join our growing global team. Please note that candidates should be currently located within Australia for consideration. We offer a hybrid working model at our Melbourne studio.

You Can

  • Composite both digital and live action elements to create groundbreaking visual effects shots for feature films
  • Match colour, lighting and exposure of rendered CG or photographed elements with plate photography
  • Execute 2D and 3D Tracks, extract and integrate mattes, layer elements and grade colour
  • Grain and degrain when necessary along with paint fixes and rotoscoping
  • Understand stereo (3D) and anamorphic compositing in Nuke
  • Collaborate with fellow artists from other disciplines to meet challenging production deadlines
  • You Have

  • At least three years of experience in node based Compositing on feature films
  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer graphics or the equivalent combination of education and experience  
  • An understanding of stereo (3D) and anamorphic compositing in Nuke
  • A proficiency in 3D multi-pass rendering techniques
  • A strong aesthetic eye for photo realism and color space concepts 
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • A team oriented mentality with a 'get it done' attitude
  • An ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment
  • An ability to take direction and implement feedback with a positive attitude 
  • Some Katana and Arnold experience (preferred but not required)

    FX Artist, Mid to Senior Level

    You Can

  • Work autonomously to create realistic, directable simulations of any real world phenomena based on reference and brief
  • Autonomously develop directable, subjective (“magical”) effects based on concept art or brief
  • Improvise and work efficiently within the confines of available resources, show structure, and schedule as defined by Production Management
  • Take on a leadership role within the department by setting the bar for quality, providing guidance, and being a role model
  • Create well-organized tools, scripts, and set-ups to facilitate efficient or automated workflows that can be used by other members of the crew

The Mid to Senior Lighting artist is responsible for the Lighting and Rendering of CG objects and environments for VFX feature films.   • Create CG Lighting for integration of CG elements into Live Action

    Pipeline TD (Mid Level)

    Vancouver
    Luma is seeking a skilled python developer to collaborate with our production department, providing technical support and developing tools to enhance workflows. This role requires working in the Pacific West Coast time zone.

    You Can

  • Mid level Python Experience
  • Solid understanding of VFX workflows
  • Development experience in at least 2 of the following:  Nuke, Katana, Houdini
  • Work closely with stakeholders and provide technical support to production
  • You Have

  • At least a minimum of 3+ years industry experience

    VFX Producer

    Melbourne
    The VFX Producer works closely with the VFX Supervisors and production teams in managing all aspects of a project. This involves planning and scheduling of facility resources, managing the visual effects team, liaising with the client, and maintaining strong relationships with the client and crew. Reporting to the Senior VFX Producer in Melbourne, Luma is looking to hire an energetic, organised and experienced Producer to join our growing team. Please note that candidates should be located within Australia for consideration.

    You Can

  • Plan and schedule facility resources with the VFX Supervisor and Digital Production Manager
  • Ensure the progression of work is to the client's satisfaction
  • Communicate with clients, editorial, artists and in-house management
  • Create scheduling targets and supervise the daily assignment to individual artists
  • Work closely with the bidding team to establish scope of work and change orders
  • Maintain adherence to set Production contract standards
  • Act decisively to quickly provide clarity and direction from a mass of project data
  • Set and own client communication standards, adding value to the relationship through collaboration, providing assurance on all aspects of the project as required
  • Take action towards profit generation, and the promotion of Luma as a vendor and employer
  • Lead by example. Manage and mentor the visual effects and Production team, cultivating an environment of professionalism and accountability.
  • You Have

  • A minimum of 3 years VFX Producer experience across live action feature films.
  • A thorough knowledge of MS Office; particularly Excel (an understanding of Project is also beneficial )
  • Proven strategic and project management experience across all areas of visual effects
  • A thorough understanding of all aspects of the VFX workflow
  • Been capable of motivating and leading a large team with enthusiasm and clarity
  • High level problem solving skills
  • The ability to adapt to change
  • Extremely detail oriented, calm and well organised
  • Clear and methodical planning and communication with artists, supervisors and clients
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to operate with a high degree of professionalism and control within a pressurized, time-sensitive working environment
  • Knowledge of Ftrack or Shotgun preferred
