If we don't do this, it will be done to us.

Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War features the epic battle between the divided Avengers after a deadly incident involving the team results in political pressure to install a governing body to oversee and direct the Avengers. One camp is led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s decision to support government oversight and accountability.

Luma worked with Marvel to deliver 200 shots including the following sequences: Stasis Chamber Flashback, Task Force Headquarters, Abandoned Factory Hideout, and the Hydra Facility Flashback.

For the Taskforce Headquarters Sequence, Luma was tasked with changing a brick wall in the background into cement. Instead of a full replacement, Luma took a creative hybrid approach and added in the texture and surface detail from the cement, while retaining the lighting of the plate. This saved a lot of time, both in the level of rotos required and in lighting all the walls in CG. The metal arm replacement required matching the lighting of the plates exactly and creatively adjusting how dark or bright the arm would go, either to show off the arm or keep it from distracting from the action.

If we can't accept limitations, we're no better than the bad guys.
