The Divergent Series: Allegiant
I suppose a fire that burns that bright is not meant to last.

In this chapter of the Divergent series, Tris escapes with Four to journey beyond the wall that encloses Chicago. They leave the only city and family they have ever known to find a peaceful solution.

Luma was happy to team up with old friends, Director Robert Schwentke and VFX producer Erika McKee, and collaborated for the first time with VFX Supervisor Stefen Fangmeier.

Luma created several parts of the Factionless HQ—a completely impoverished environment in the destroyed section of Chicago. To achieve the fully CG destroyed Chicago look, Luma created foreground building set extensions with multiple layers of CG building in mid ground areas.

Luma created a lot of hidden VFX (CG add ins) for the Factionless HQ including building the trains and train tracks, ceiling set extensions, and smoke additions.

Finally, Luma worked on a number of shots known as the ‘tarmac view’ within the airport decay sequence. Another vendor supplied reference for the exterior tarmac design, which Luma used in addition to a drawing from the real Chicago O’Hare International Airport to build a custom matte painting ‘at magic hour’. It was composited into windows looking out from inside the abandoned airport.

I come from outside the wall.
